Following a discussion at the Parish Council Meeting, we invited the community to participate in the 2024 Red Wednesday Appeal, a national initiative that encourages parishes to raise funds to support a worthy cause. In an effort to reach our parish target of £500, parishioners were encouraged to get involved in various ways. Some individuals took on the challenge of counting their steps on a designated day and obtained sponsorships, while others made generous donations directly. Additionally, a raffle was held to add to our fundraising efforts.
The Church was also lit up in Red on Wednesday 20th November and a notice placed on the railings for passers-by to explain why this had been done.
A prayer bookmark was made available to parishioners so that even if they couldn’t take part, they could support the appeal with prayer.
In typical Sacred Heart tradition, the target of £500 was exceeded with £711.50 raised. £250 of this is eligible for Gift Aid which ACN can claim.
We are grateful for the enthusiasm and generosity of our community in supporting this important cause.
The Sacred Heart Food Festival 2024 took place on September 22nd and was a resounding success, attracting a large crowd and generating requests for a repeat event. You can view the complete selection of the world foods served by clickinghere.
